Incognito™
Lingual systems
The Incognito™ brackets are a system of brackets bonded to the back side of the teeth, to the lingual side. They are thus invisible from the outside.
The manufacturing process is complex and necessitates additional steps, because each bracket is tailored and casted individually for each tooth. Manufacturing costs are substantial, even more that the material used is composed of gold.
For this reason, the cost of lingual braces is higher than for conventional braces. It can represent from 3500$ to 5000$ more than the regular price depending if you have 1 arch or 2 arches treated with Incognito™ brackets.
The occlusal view makes it possible to see the Incognito™ brackets. The brackets bonded to the anterior teeth have a vertical slot (red arrows) used to insert the archwire while the insertion is done laterally (green arrows) for the posterior teeth. The wire is held in place by elastic or metal ligatures (blue arrows). The last molar has a bracket called a tube, because there is no opening on the side. The wires are prefabricated by the manufacturer of the brackets.
